A picturesque town on the Fox River, St. Charles, Illinois boasts over 25,000 residents, more than 9,000 homes, and one of the finest school systems in Illinois.
The pride of the community, St. Charles High School recently received a blue ribbon from the U.S. Dept. of Education for being one of the best secondary schools in the country. Attached to the school's campus is the Dallora Norris Cultural Arts Center, where children are able to express and improve their talents.
The St. Charles Park District offers more than 800 acres with a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activites. It also has many shopping opportunities. An array of historic buildings renovated and brought back to life house a variety of shops and restaurants. And in 1991, the Charlestowne Mall, an architectural masterpiece with over 80 stores, opened on the east side of town.
St. Charles has a reputation as a center of cultural arts. Pheasant Run Mega Center hosts some of entertainment's biggest names, and the Norris Cultural Arts Center hosts concerts by the Illinois Chamber Symphony.
Among the events held regularly in St. Charles are the Pride of the Fox, Greek Fest, Scarecrow Fest, the Kane County Fair, and a 16-day Arts and Music Festival.
There are a large number of clubs, groups and organizations created to help maintain the integrity of the town. The Chamber of Commerce and the 1,400 businesses located in St. Charles work diligently in keeping a secure economical base.
